Synopsis

From USA Today Bestselling Author Nora Flite She thought she was stepping into fame: Meeting Drezden Halifax should have been a dream. But dreams are supposed to be sweet, fragile things that whisk you away. Not monsters crafted from hard fingers, gritty vocal cords and a voice so powerful it could tear my guts right out. Maybe my heart, too. Becoming the guitarist for Four and a Half Headstones was everything I needed. Too bad the band's lead singer is doing his best to ruin everything I am. He thought she would solve his troubles: Lola Cooper, god damn Lola Cooper. She was the perfect guitarist, fingers that could summon a sweet song or punch a chord. She's supposed to save my band, make us come out of this tour in one piece... But I just want to tear HER to pieces. No one should make me feel this way. One look at her, one smell, and I knew I'd have to have her. She does things to me that scare the shit out of me. Make me want to slam her on a wall and listen to her cries: eager or fearful, it doesn't matter. I'm a monster... And I don't even care.

My Review:
Hard Body Rock (Body Rock, #1)Hard Body Rock by Nora Flite
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

Lola Cooper gets the chance of a lifetime when suddenly her favorite band is in need of a guitarist ASAP. She happens to be on tour with her brother, who is the lead guitarist for the band that is opening for Four and a Half Headstones. Her brother hears the news of the need for a guitar player, and gets Lola an audition. Lola's guitar playing is amazing and she knows the band's songs well, so she is selected for the job. What she doesn't count on is her struggle to contain her nerves when playing along side the sexy intense Dresden Halifax, lead singer of Four and a half Headstones. Dresden finds himself uncharacteristically taken by Lola and knows that starting anything with her would be a terrible idea, but he is finding it very challenging to stay away from her.

The chemistry between Lola and Dresden is pretty hot, and there was a lot set up in this book that will make readers need to continue with the series (or at least this reader will). Lola is a tough girl, but there are definitely some things in her past that I am eager to find out about. She is very talented, and I look forward to watching her grow and find confidence in herself as a musician and a woman. Dresden can see that she feels the need to be tough, but I'm hoping he will help give her a safe place to be vulnerable. This was a short story, and I am eager to read the next in the series!
