Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publication Date: November 26,, 2013
Published By: Avon Impulse
Event organized by: Literati Author Services, Inc.
Synopsis
Sydney Thomas wants nothing more than to train rodeo horses and hopes becoming a rodeo queen will help her make the contacts she seeks. She is thrilled when Mike Findley, the co-owner of Findley Brothers stock contractors, hires her for her dream job as a horse trainer until she meets Scott Chandler, the other half of Findley Brothers. He’s arrogant, judgmental and, unfortunately, unbelievably sexy. Scott doesn’t bother to hide his attraction to her, but makes it clear that he thinks she’s nothing more than a “buckle bunny” intent on taming a cowboy and he doesn’t plan on being any woman’s toy - not again.
When the two are forced to work together, neither expects their past to show up on the doorstep. Scott’s ex, Mike Finley’s daughter Liz, returns to win him back, determined to destroy any budding relationship between Scott and Sydney, even if that means bringing in outside help in the form of Curtis Willits, Sydney’s ex-fiancĂ©. Sydney faces her abusive past relationship and Scott fights his distrust of women and love. Can they overcome their past and learn to trust one another with their hearts?

Remy by Katy Evans- Review!

Remy (Real, #3)Remy by Katy Evans
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Remy is not to be read until you've completed Real, and Mine. It gives us alternating segments of the past and present from Remy's POV. The past scenes take us through Brooke and Remy's entire relationship from the first time they meet. Since their instant attraction coupled with the slow, intense building relationship was one of my favorite parts of these books, it was great to get to experience that again from the Remy's perspective. While it was hot to see Remy from the outside as we went through the first two books with Brooke, it was just as passionate and sexy (if not more) to experience those same scenes with Remy. You aren't going to get a ton of new material or storyline with this, but it feels good to spend more time with the characters in this way and it definitely felt like the story as a whole was more complete when I finished this. I would recommend this to anyone who has read and enjoyed the first books in this series.

Unbound by Cara McKenna- Review

UnboundUnbound by Cara McKenna
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Merry has gone through some significant changes in her life and is hiking solo through the Highlands to celebrate her new physical self and possibly connect with her mother's country of origin. Two weeks into her trip, she catches a stomach bug and then falls and injures her head. She finds her way to a cabin seeking some help. Rob has exiled himself to the Highlands after becoming so self-destructive he felt his only option was to live alone away from society. For the past two years he has avoided almost all human contact, but when he sees that Merry is injured he feels he needs to offer her assistance.

Merry is quickly attracted to the handsome recluse and finds him and his simple existence, and mysterious past fascinating. Rob finds that he is lonelier than he realized as Merry's kindness and company begins to make him feel things for the first time in a long time. It doesn't take long for their chemistry to lead them into a sexual relationship, but Rob has some proclivities that have caused him mostly shame and pain throughout his life. Merry catches on, and finds that by fulfilling Rob's fantasies, she is also fulfilling her own. Their brief but intense relationship before Merry has to head back to her real life in the US leaves them both with a lot of new understandings about themselves as well as questions about what this will mean for their futures.

I found the pacing of this book just about perfect. Even though the amount of time the characters spent together was not long, the circumstances of their situation provide a realistic feel to the events that transpire. The chemistry between Merry and Rob is sweet, and hot. Getting to experience them both finding true sexual fulfillment for the first time in their lives was very satisfying. The way they complimented each other and truly took pleasure in the pleasure of the other was fantastic. This book really had me feeling along with both characters. Their honesty with one another in the face of their insecurities was very charming. It was sometimes difficult to go through the pain and challenges that the characters had and were still facing, but it made the parts where they grow and move forward all the more rewarding. I have read and enjoyed other books by this author, and was delighted to really connect with this one as well. I would highly recommend this title.

Inception by Ashley Suzanne- Cover Reveal and Review

Review:
Inception by Ashley Suzanne
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Inception is told from Danny's perspective, and we get to see what those 4 years before the fateful night at the beginning of Mirage were like. I'm still struggling a little with my feelings about Mirage, and where I would want the story to go. This book actually helped me fill in some of what I felt was missing after reading Mirage and when I finished Inception, I had an urge to go back and re-read Mirage. In Mirage, we only know Danny through the thoughts and feelings of other characters. This book really helped me get a more complete picture of the four main characters relationships with one another, and actually made me feel little more invested in all of them. Some of the dialogue is a little choppy and doesn't feel all together natural, but I still managed to feel some connections with the characters and story line. The conflicts that I know are to come seem a little more real and there is definitely a better understanding of the real angst that likely will be experienced by all of the main characters. This book really helped me to get to a place where I'm more excited to continue with this series than I was before.

My Review:

Resolutions (Honor Guard Series)Resolutions by Teri Riggs
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Eve Taylor is a DEA agent who gets captured during a mission to steal important data from a huge Columbian drug lord. Dillon McKenna (Mac) is a Resolutions' operative sent in to rescue Eve. Eve and Mac have an intense history. Their relationship ended two years ago when Eve was promoted to field agent and Mac told her to choose the job or him. Mac has some definite alpha tendencies, and struggles a lot with his desire to keep Eve safe from harm. His mother was killed working as a nurse while doing dangerous work for the U.N. Mac is afraid that he will lose Eve as well, even though his ultimatum already took her away from him.

This book is full of action right from the start. There are few moments when the main characters are not in danger, but being stuck together during these extreme circumstances has both Eve and Mac realizing quickly that their love for and attraction to one another is still going strong. Their passion is definitely in tact, but they quickly fall into old patterns of arguing about Mac not wanting Eve to put herself in danger, and Eve feeling like he doesn't think she is qualified for field work. As they fight together to retrieve the data Eve originally came for and to stay alive when a major drug lord is actively out to get them, they start to realize that they make a good fighting team. Mac begins to reevaluate some of his destructive thoughts and notions about Eve doing field work as he repeatedly gets to witness her extreme competence in the field. To top it all off, there is clearly someone from inside the DEA who is feeding information to the cartel and exposing any safe places and plans that Eve and Mac are trying to utilize.

I loved Eve. She was a strong smart lady who would allow herself to be tortured and killed before revealing any information to her captors. She cares enough about herself to do the job she knows she is great at even if it costs her a relationship she desperately wants. Mac was definitely frustrating at times, but watching him evolve and try to be the person Eve needs was pretty great. Throughout the story I was really hoping that first of all they would live through everything, but also that they would be able to figure out a way to be together since it was obvious how great they could be. I would read more books by this author in the future.

Author Info:
Teri Riggs was destined to be a writer.  As a small girl she didn’t read bedtime stories, she made up her own.  Who needed Little Red Riding Hood or The Three Little Pigs when there were so many great tales bouncing around in her head?  When she grew up and became a mother to three little girls, she continued the tradition of making up bedtime stories.  On the occasions she chose to tell conventional fairytales, Teri usually gave them a bit of tweaking here and there or added a new ending.  Her girls loved it.
After her daughters had the nerve to actually grow up and leave home, Teri discovered she had a passion for writing and jumped right in.  It came as no surprise she chose to write mysteries and happily-ever-after’s since that’s the genres she loves to read.
Teri lives in Marietta, Georgia with her husband, one of her daughters and two dogs that seem to think they rule the world.  And some days Teri thinks maybe they do.

Teri still frequently tells herself stories as she falls asleep.  The only difference now is she wakes up the next morning and turns her bedtime stories into books.
